Derryl Murphy - SF/F Author, Soccer Coach, Player / Central Park
October 30, 2007
Captures an intelectual seriousness with a softhearted smirk. The somewnat faded red and muted yellow-green work nicely. His eyes are amazing and express experience, both good and bad. Great portrait.

his smile is just like mona lisa's... it's there, eventhough it cannot be seen.

the texture of his skin and hair matches the background... I like this one. he seems so approachable.

This guy looks like an author, I wonder if he's married to a librarian. He's hot

I could have sworn I was younger than this. And didn't I really smile once in awhile? Seriously, though, a nice pic, Bill. A pleasure, and as usual, you did a helluva job. D

Wonderful photo, Bill, of an old (and good) friend. Derryl was the one who brought your project to my attention earlier this year, which resulted in this photograph: http://www.365portraits.com/index.php?date=0613. I like this one, and in fact it seems to be somewhat similar to mine in that we both have reserved and somewhat serious looks on our faces. I can confirm that he has had good and bad experiences, but haven't we all? The photograph captures the mood of a grizzled veteran of many years of hard work, good and bad times, and caring and compassion. He is married to a librarian (I introduced the two of them at a party in 1993), and he is an author. Gee, what a coincidence. ;-)
