Michael Malice - Elite Genius / Studio May 29, 2007
Too many of your images are looking OUT of the picture. It distracts. Fascinating series. - John Andrews Does a portrait subject need to be looking at the viewer? I don't think so. I'm quite satisfied with the sense I get from Mr. Malice owing to the fact that he's off in his own world looking somewhere else. - William Shunn - http://www.shunn.net This photo is so good because he is looking out... this guy is pondering his existence, and judging from his expression, he is not reaching any amazing conclusions! This is funny and well finished up. Interesting idea! - Ela - www.photo.net/photos/***ELA*** I don't get "pondering his existence". The message I get is that the subject is self absorbed. - Roman34 ...but, comic sans?
love the site. thanks for the daily inspiration. - allen - http://www.unapologetic.com This photo makes me smile, plain and simple. - Eaglefille - http://eaglefille.livejournal.com/ This might just be your best one yet. The thought bubble is BRILLIANT, and, um, so accurate (Malice, I say that in a totally loving way, promise!). Roman34, maybe both? - Rachel Kramer Bussel - http://www.rachelkramerbussel.com I agree with the 'daily inspiration' part, I look at this site everyday. Love it.
Bell--- - Bell Ok, now that I look at this photo second time I think that with this you took this project to the next level, Bill. This is photo ROCKS! - Ela - www.photo.net/photos/***ELA*** I LOVE this! - Elise - http://elise.ownbeys.com/ my first comment is: damn you comic sans!
my second comment is: great photo! - amanda - www.amandawoodward.com The portrait of Whister's mother has her looking off "camera." That's a classic painting- and a portrait. In fact, most portraits had the subject looking away for centuries- the painting "Olympia" by Mamet had a prostitute looking directly at the audience and people freaked out- this was revolutionary. So I say- who the hell cares- does the image capture the essence of the subject? Then let 'em look wherever the heck they want. even if they think in comic sans font. - csd he isn't pondering his existence... by the look on his face, he's done pondering. he knows! hence the jobdiscription 'elite genius'...
good one.
greetings from rainy switzerland - samsplanet Michael,
I agree with the others, though the Comic Sans was a concept I think you're much more deserving of a more elegant font, or something more elite than Comic Sans. - Jess McGins - overheardatcollege.com
I'm Bill Wadman, a New York-based photographer who after completing my first 365 Project, and then a weekly 52 Project, took it upon myself to shoot and post one portrait every day of 2007. Each photo was taken that day, and each day was a different subject. Some were be in the studio, some in the wild. Hopefully they are all interesting.
